Events at the University of Bayreuth

Whether open-air concerts, theatre performances, university cinema or huge beach parties – the University of Bayreuth has a lot to offer. The large campus offers ideal conditions for this. This will give you a small taste of the various events that you can get involved in organizing at any time. 

Summer feeling on the university beach

The campus of the University of Bayreuth was filled with sand for the Summer Feeling, with lots of people and a beach soccer tournament.

Every two years, the Bayreuth campus is transformed into a breathtaking beach setting with relaxing lounges and a diverse beach beer garden thanks to a spectacular redesign with almost 800 tons of sand. A colorful mix of sport, culture, music and lifestyle is offered in this special ambience over a period of 12 days.


UNIKAT

UNIKAT is a long-established summer and dance event at the University of Bayreuth with musical and culinary accompaniment. Every year, the Botanical Garden on campus is transformed into a unique, illuminated event location with culinary delights and a supporting programme for students and the public.

Glashaus

Whether it's concerts, cafés, plays, readings or parties: the Glashaus at the University of Bayreuth is the perfect place to have fun. All events in the Glashaus are organized by the Glashaus e.V., and only members can attend the events. However, it is very easy to become a member: a supporting membership allows entry for the whole month and costs one euro. Full membership, which is valid for one year, costs six euros. The membership card must be shown or purchased at the entrance to an event. Membership is also required in the café and can also be purchased there. 

Off-campus culture – discounts for students

Expanding the cultural offering in Bayreuth: that is the aim of the Kulturfreunde Bayreuth association. The association organizes classical music concerts that are accessible to all sections of society. As a result, the association offers concert tickets and subscriptions at reduced rates, for example. Students receive a 50 percent discount on advance tickets and pay only five euros for remaining tickets at the box office. Find out more on the Kulturfreunde Bayreuth website. 

Uni Open Air

The Uni Open Air is a real institution on our university campus. Every year, several hundred music lovers come together to make music and celebrate in a relaxed and informal atmosphere in the NW II courtyard.

Concerts

Many people listen to a performance by the university big band.

The performances of our university big band, our symphony orchestra and our university choir have been real visitor magnets for years and always lead to a full atrium plus the surrounding meadows. Music lovers get their money's worth here and we regularly welcome external visitors. Anyone who would like to get involved and become active is welcome.

University Cinema

For over 30 years, the MPI student council has traditionally organized the university cinema at the University of Bayreuth. Every second Tuesday during the lecture period, the student council shows a movie in lecture halls H17 and H18. Admission costs three euros.
